First Aid for the Wilderness




RSTO has developed a training course specially designed for the outdoors and remote locations. This course covers primary and secondary levels of care, while taking into consideration the environment which may surround the victim. During training, each different emergency is identified and analysed, so as to acknowledge the proper steps of care and evacuation guidelines. This course is suitable for individuals and organisations which find themselves in such remote environments. This course can be tailored to the needs of the candidates attending the course.

At the end of course you will:

  • Know how to act while in remote setting
  • Help a non-breathing victim
  • Know how to act while in remote setting
  • Know how to identify serious illness
  • Help a choking victim
  • Know how to help while protecting yourself and others around you.




Become a First Aid for the Wilderness Instructor:

This is not a course which would be uninteresting to teach, as every single time you deliver it, you will find yourself in a different setting. Although there are standard setting for this course, RSTO encourages the flexibility and adaptation of the course to the trainers expertise and to the needs of the attendees. Prerequisites include past knowledge in instruction of short version first aid courses. Apply to become an instructor for the First Aid for the Wilderness with RSTO. All successful applicants who pass the course will receive:

  • Instructor certificate

  • Training backpack
  • First Aid for the Wilderness Instructor manual
  • RSTO Powerpoint: First Aid for the Wilderness
  • RSTO Multimedia Assistant: First Aid for the Wilderness ( on a DVD )
  • Small First Aid Kit for Demonstration during training
